The owner of this interesting garage in Palmerston North certainly has an eclectic taste in vehicles. Sitting next to his very rare 1954 Ford Skyliner featuring a factory Plexiglas roof insert and much memorabilia from travels and a career in aviation, is a 1945 Farmall A tractor.

During the early 1940s, International Harvester’s Farmall was the most popular tractor brand in the US. The letter-series Farmalls, beginning in 1939 with the Model M, reached Model Es in the early 1940s (with jumps to H and A). The Farmall A and AV were small, one-plough tractors offered with either a gasoline or distillate four-cylinder engine. On both models, the engine and drivetrain were offset from the operator, so that the farmer could view the area they were cultivating.

This tractor is a project that the owner has owned for 35 years. Originally purchased as a boat tractor, it has become more of a part of the family.
