Motorclassica to celebrate Italian icons

-

Australasia’s premier classic and collector car exhibition, Motorclassica, is set to celebrate two of automotive history’s most iconic Italians, Ferrari and Lancia.

Now in its eighth year, Motorclassica will again be staged at Australia’s Royal Exhibition Building in Melbourne from Friday October 13 to Sunday October 15.

A major highlight of the 2017 event will be a celebration of Ferrari’s 70th Anniversary, one of only a select number of global events officially supported and sanctioned by the Ferrari factory in Maranello, Italy.

Although details are being kept secret right now, pending an official announcement from Ferrari, expect a very special reveal and a tribute display as the featured marque in the 2017 Australian International Concours d’elegance.

The Ferrari Club of Australia National Rally is bringing 70 cars to Motorclassica to celebrate this very special anniversary, as well.

Motorclassica will also pay tribute to 110 years of the innovative but now sadly defunct Italian marque Lancia, with a number of iconic rally cars in original race livery, accompanied by a display of very rare models including one of just two 1947 Aprilia Spyder Gran Sport Ghia that exist in the world, a limited 1957 Appia GT Zagato, and a Flaminia Super Sport Zagato.

Motorclassica is Australasia’s most prestigious automotive event, uniquely mixing rare, exotic, and collectable cars and motorcycles from around the world with the latest contemporary high-end sports and performance models.

The 2017 event will again play host to ever-popular features such as the Australian International Concours d’elegance, the daily Club Sandwich car club displays sponsored by Lorbek Luxury Cars, the VIP Lounge for entrants and special guests, and the Saturday evening Classic Car Auction, conducted this year for the first time by Mossgreen.

It will all begin with the annual Tour Classica, which will see Motorclassica cars convoy
