FUTURA TRAILERS EXPANSION
Mirroring some of the success Kiwis in motor sport have had, and are continuing to have, around the world, innovative low-loading trailer manufacturer Futura Trailers has just announced the expansion of its operations in US. The exciting commitment will include a dedicated operations and assembly staff so that Futura can continue to service the North American market with the clever patented trailers that it is quickly becoming world-famous for.
“We’re committed to growing our footprint in the States. We are improving our facilities there, so [that] we can best serve our growing number of dealers in North America and Canada. Head office and innovation will always be driven from New Zealand, but, as the brand gets a name for itself now, the expansion is an exciting new development for us in that part of the world also,” says Futura’s founder, Glen Reid.
While Futura trailers are used to transport anything from race cars to motorcycles, and are extremely popular for the effortless and damage-free towing of classics as well, the brand is rooted in race-vehicle transportation and the Speedshow was one of the organization’s first events. It will return again in 2018 (Stand 82) to showcase some of its newest innovations, as well as the precision-engineered aluminium low loaders that are now the first choice of some of the world’s biggest names in motor sport and classic vehicles.
That list of Futura’s customers is impressive — from New Zealand’s own Greg Murphy and ‘Mad Mike’ Whiddett to Indycar icon Al Unser, who uses Futura trailers to transport a treasured collection of classic race cars for his Unser Motorsport Museum. There’s a couple of other very big names that Reid can’t talk about just yet, but just maybe he’ll give you a hint if you collar him at the CRC Speedshow over 21–22 July.
