New Zealand Classic Car

CLUB CORNER

-

The MG Car Club (Otago Centre) has a new focus to encourage members to get out their classics and drive them. With the club’s motto ‘MG, the Marque of Friendship’, club president Kevin Carter said, “The club has always been built on friendship, as our motto reminds us, and we welcome anyone interested in the cars.

“Some of the events we run we don’t always have club members joining us, as some are already members of other clubs, but we welcome them all.”

The club has a wide range of MG models in its membership, beginning with an early M-type through to the later MG F and TF cars, and enjoys a worldwide network of members carrying on the MG tradition, as well as being a source of parts for these interesting sports cars. A particular benefit of its worldwide network is competitiveness, with numerous displays of club cars to like-minded car enthusiasts and the public at large.

After a clash of events last year, Kevin hopes that the club can once again be in attendance at the annual Autospectacular in the Edgar Centre in Dunedin this coming September.

Like many established clubs, its membership is getting on in years, so the group is keen to see younger people join.

Interested people are encouraged to contact the club or just turn up on the third Sunday of each month at the venue advertised on the club’s Facebook page to enjoy the hospitality and a drive with members. Get in touch via Facebook, or give Kevin a call on 03 476 7753 or 021 189 6126.
