DAFFODIL DAY BLENHEIM
When the New Zealand Vintage Car Club (VCC) decided in 2017 to hold a Daffodil Day fundraiser throughout the country in support of the Cancer Society, its plan was for each club to hold a run/rally. The Marlborough VCC, along with several other clubs, decided to put on a car show instead. Last year, the local branch raised $8K, which was considerably more than what any of the other clubs had collected.
So, this year, the club decided that they would do the same again.
Around 230 cars, bikes, and boats gathered at Brayshaw Park — ranging from veteran cars to the latest Mustangs, and everything in between. As it often is with most of these events, there was a selection of cars not seen around town before, which, of course, meant that there was something for everyone to admire and envy, or, in many cases, just relive their youth.
The weather also came to the party — after several days of rain earlier in the week, the day dawned bright and sunny, giving everyone an early touch of spring.
With this show being the first main event of the summer calendar, the support shown here indicates that another great season is just around the corner.
The final proceeds are still to be counted, but, at this stage, it looks like the club will easily match last year’s total.
