“GO LIKE HELL”

These were the words that Bruce Mclaren apparently yelled to Chris Amon while his car was in the pits during the 1966 24 Hours of Le Mans. The Ford GT40 was Henry Ford’s automotive response to an un-responding Enzo Ferrari. It was an epic battle involving star players. Now, the on-again, off-again film project Ford v. Ferrari is finally scheduled to be coming to a screen near you.

Steve Mcqueen is not around anymore, so Matt Damon is down to play Carroll Shelby and Christian Bale to play Ken Miles. There’s no word on who’s to play the New Zealand trio of Mclaren, Amon, and Hulme — it’s a US movie, so those will probably only be bit parts, almost non-speaking roles that will be played by bit-part actors with bad accents. Keep an eye out; it’ll probably be amusing if nothing else, and the soundtrack should be worth a listen too.
