New Zealand Classic Car

HAPPY DAYS

1957 Chevrolet Bel Air $139,000

-

This is one of the most iconic cars in history, the last of the Tri-5s, and for many the most beautiful. Many aspire to own a ’57, but not many can have one of these convertibles. They are rare in New Zealand.

This car is in outstanding condition, and, although there is no guarantee, it looks as if it is a matching-numbers example. The factory Harbour Blue is stunning, and the glass, chrome, and stainless are like new.

The car drives well, and floats down the road at 100kph.

No details are available, but the car has obviously been restored at some stage. Since it was imported, seat belts have been installed, as well new brakes — manual drums keep you on your toes! The powersteering rack was rebuilt, and, since then, both front ball joints have been replaced.

The car was probably little used in the US, as there were only 1500 miles on the clock after the restoration. The car is seriously for sale, and any reasonable offer will be looked at. Any search will show that this price is very reasonable.

The car has not been altered and is now compliant. Cars like this are fetching big money, and it would not be possible to get one landed into New Zealand, cleared, and complied for the money asked.
