ALMOST ONE IN A MILLION
In 1969, General Motors made almost a quarter of a million Camaros, but they made only 33 others like this one. The Camaro had been around only two years when they released this stunner and it provided huge competition for the Mustang.
This Camaro, a genuine Jerry Macneish Certified 1969 Camaro RPO-Z11 396 Pace Car RS/SS four-speed convertible, is something to behold. It will instantly transform you back to the days of Woodstock, or maybe more heavy metal than that. At a time when cars were naturally
aspirated, V8s ruled, and bigger was always better, as in 396ci and 375bhp, no one really wanted a turbo to dull the exhaust thunder. Twin clutches didn’t exist, so you hefted the lever and changed gear in that Muncie 660 box yourself. If you trod on the accelerator too hard you could still light up the tyres because there was no computer to dial it down. A true American muscle car — and it even has Mario Andretti’s signature on it to prove that.
This car had a frame-off, very high dollar nut-and-bolt restoration in 2016 and has only had limited use (1500 miles) since then.
It comes with Jerry Macneish and Mike Kaiser (certified USA Camaro judges) Certificates of Authenticity “Factory Z-11 396” 4 speed Pacecar and NCRS docs.
The car comes with two sets of tyres as well, original Polyglass Goodyears for shows or Goodrich Radial T/AS for road use here.
