This super rare Shelby Daytona Coupe (also known as the ‘Brock Coupe’) has been built by Superformance under licence by Shelby American Inc.

Superformance is well known in the industry for its quality replicas, which come fully finished minus the drivetrain.

This is the only Superformance Daytona Coupe in New Zealand and is a replica of the 1965 car that was specifically built to take on Ferrari in the World GT Class in which it won the World Manufacturers’ Championship In 1965. There were six original cars built, all of which are estimated to be worth millions of dollars today.

Originally this coupe was fitted with a Ford Windsor V8 engine and six-speed transmission, which has now been replaced with a GM 480hp (358kw) LS3 and five-speed Tremec transmission. This combination is better suited to the car and it is significantly better to drive now for so many reasons. The designer of the original six cars also has one of these cars in the US and he also upgraded to this combination.

This upgrade has clocked up less than 1000km, with less than 5000km in total.

Options include power steering, air conditioning, alarm with remote door opening, and electric windows. At the time of the engine upgrade, a custom polished stainless-steel exhaust system, to replicate the original system, was installed, plus a custom fuel tank at a cost of over $15K.

This is a unique car built to exceptional standards and would cost in excess of $300K to replace today. Any car associated with Carroll Shelby will always be a great investment.
