HERITAGE HONOURED
At the 2018 MSNZ AGM, Jamie Aislabie was presented with the Historic Heritage Award. The citation reads: “Jamie is one of those drivers/ constructors who formed the bedrock of much of New Zealand’s motorsport in the 1950s and early 1970s. Indeed he comes close to creating a record, with around five pages of commentary (pp. 88–90 and pp. 265–276) in Graham Vercoe’s Historic Racing Cars of New Zealand.
“His SID sports cars often dominated events over a number of years, and at one point he held more New Zealand sports car titles than any other driver. SID apparently stood for ‘Something I Did’, although some said it was really ‘Still In Debt’.
“Jamie is currently involved in restoring cars in his collection and is a Motorsport NZ COD Auditor.”
