AC CARS GOES ELECTRIC

-

AC has rejoined the ranks of the world’s great sports car makers just in time to join the move away from the firebreathing engines that made it so iconic.

The new AC Cobra Series 4 Electric still bears a close relationship to the AC Cobra 378 Superblower, the first step in AC’S revival.

The Series 4 is based on the AC Cobra Mk IV with the bigger of the two Cobra body styles. A new electric Series 1 model is based on the AC Cobra 289 MKII petrol-engined version which used the smaller body.

AC has introduced a power system for a new age developed by technical partner Falcon Electric, which says it aims to make electric vehicles exciting.

There are two versions of the AC Cobra Series 4 Electric available. A 230kw version delivers 0-62mph in 4.9 seconds, has an estimated range of 190 miles, and weighs just 1190kg. In contrast the 460kw version rips up 0-60mph in 3.8 seconds for a range of over 160 miles, weighing 1240kg.

AC Cars focuses on weight management to help deliver performance and a memorable driving experience.

AC Cars has also announced that its AC Cobra Superblower is now being fitted with a 6.2 litre V8 delivering 650bhp, 880Nm torque engine, up from the previous version of 580bhp, 550Nm 6.2 litre engine.
