The Wine Show SBS, 8.30pm
A cosy night in on a Saturday night can be perfectly topped off with a nice big glass of wine, and what better inspiration on what to choose than The Wine Show. In what many will consider the ultimate dream job, novice wine lover and TV star Matthew Goode and his actor friend Matthew Rhys
travel around to meet experts and visit vineyards as they discover the stories behind some of the world’s most fascinating wines. Tonight, they venture out from their villa HQ in the Italian hills and head to Tuscany for a barrel race and find a wine made by a woman called Dora.
SBS VICELAND, 8.30pm, M (2007)
In director Danny Boyle’s lavishly designed sci-fi epic, Rose Byrne gets down and dirty in a full-on action role as Cassie, a pilot who leads a team of eight astronauts, including physicist Cillian Murphy, engineer Chris Evans and biologist Michelle Yeoh, 50 years into the future on a bid to reignite the dying sun. Can our plucky team save the day by firing a gigantic bomb into the star’s failing heart? You don’t need to be a rocket scientist to figure out things go wrong, putting the whole mission in jeopardy, and risking the lives of the crew.
Miniseries: Apple Tree Yard ABC, 8.30pm
Easy viewing? No way, but Apple Tree Yard is gripping and brilliantly acted. If you thought the first three parts were intense, tonight’s emotional season finale might have you reaching for a stiff drink. Believability and plot holes aside, the scenes that take place in the courtroom tonight lavishly lay on the melodrama. The murder trial continues, with Costley’s (Ben Chaplin) lawyer Bonnard (Lydia Leonard) basing her defence on evidence that Costley suffers from a personality disorder which would have impeded his ability to react normally.
