Pack the perfect basket

THE perfect picnic basket can be assembled in a matter of minutes with the right planning.

Grab a wicker basket filled with a picnic rug, plates, cutlery and glasses which can be kept at the ready in a hallway cupboard.

To fill, start with a cheese platter assortment – various cheeses (including hard and soft), fresh grapes, strawberries and crackers. Naturally a bottle of chilled champagne goes well with this.

Champagne (or wine, or beer or sparkling water) always goes well with a hot chook roll, too.

So pick up a roast chicken, pre-made salad and fresh bread rolls (which are always super easy to assemble while you sit taking in the view) at the supermarket on your way to the picnic spot.
