The amazing Noosa alive! 2018 festival promises to be bigger and better than ever

NOOSA alive! 2018 brings Noosa to life during 10 days of glorious entertainm­ent, food, culture and fun from July 20-29.

The festival is celebratin­g 17 years of delivering world-class culture to community.

This year there are more than 80 ticketed and free events with 250 artists, including three world, six Australian and five Queensland premieres.

HOT EVENTS

Katie Noonan Premiere exclusive: Multi-platinum selling and four-time ARIA award-winning singer and songwriter Katie Noonan in a premiere performanc­e for one show only with her trio Elixir, a string quartet and Australia’s “poet laureate” Michael Leunig. July 29, 4pm, The J Theatre, $85.

Marjorie Prime Queensland Premiere: Direct from a sell-out season at the Ensemble Theatre Sydney. This is a thought-provoking play that explores life, relationsh­ips and technology and relative impact in today’s world. An award-winning play directed by Mitchell Butel and an unbeatable five-star cast including Australian theatre icon Maggie Dence and Lucy Bell especially for Noosa. July 24-25, The J Theatre $57.50 (matinee), $62.50 (evening).

Straight from the Hart, Blake Bowden: Australian star of music and stage with a string of hits past, currently starring in Book of Mormon in Sydney kicks off a national tour with his new show Straight from the Hart, a “world premiere” and unique showcase experience of the finest of music theatre story telling avec nine-piece band. If you love excellent music and performanc­e, then Straight from the Hart is the show for you. July 24-25, The J Theatre, 2pm matinee $57.50 and 7.30pm $62.50.

OLE! 3 Latin Machos in their world-acclaimed flamenco guitar comedy show, where flamenco magic and zany slapstick collide at breakneck pace. This show has been celebrated internatio­nally. You will be in awe of the serious musical talent and sheer entertainm­ent that unfolds. July 27, 5.30pm and 8.30pm, The J Theatre, $69.50.

Fire in the Sky: A free community event at Lions Park, Gympie Tce, showcasing local and visiting talent including Sunshine Coast pop cross genre star Doolie to a crowd anticipate­d in excess of 10,000 people culminatin­g in the best fireworks of the year. July 21, 2-6.30pm Lions Park, Gympie Tce. This is a free event.
