Sirens (Greek): women regarded as seductive and beautiful

Noosa Life and Style - - FASHION -

Noosa label Siren Clothing is vintage-inspired fashion for timeless beautiful women. Designer Rebecca Brimblecombe says Siren Clothing is a vintage inspired fashion line which entices women to embrace their inner siren.

“As a vintage inspired designer, my range transcends the whim of fashion. I design classic, timeless styles with an emphasis on flattering the female form,” says Rebecca.

“I enjoy transposing authentic elements of vintage pattern-cutting into my own designs, made for modern figures, in contemporary fabrics.”

The Siren label started in a humble market in Camden, London after Rebecca graduated with Distinction in Fashion Design from the London College of Fashion in 1980. Since moving to Sydney in 1985, Rebecca’s classic feminine designs quickly grew in popularity, stocking many boutiques around Australia and New Zealand.

Siren Clothing has found its home, trading at the Eumundi Markets since 2001, and becoming a permanent fixture in 2013 with the move to Eumundi Square and now the addition of a joint-boutique Noosa Junction shop Pin Up Paradise opening late last year.

“Customers have tired of throwaway ‘fashion’ which only contributes to the unsustainable waste mountain and exploitation of factory workers providing cheap labour. They want styles that last and never date, in good quality fabrics. Clothes which are well-made and designed to fit properly,” says Rebecca, who has worked with the same small family of fastidious sewers both in Sydney and now Ho Chi Minh City for over 20 years.

Rebecca is inspired by a life-long love of the aesthetics of clothing design from many historical periods, especially the surreal Dali-influenced work of Schiaparelli, the intricate bias-cut dresses of Vionnet, through to the classic Old Hollywood designs of Adrian and Edith Head.

The genesis of the label name Siren’s name is in reference to the sirens of Greek mythology: a woman regarded as seductive and beautiful.

Siren Clothing will launch Summer 2018/2019 this October at the 11th annual Sunshine Coast International Fashion Festival in the Ready to Wear show. Visit www.sirencloth
