Wild chase charges

PO­LICE have re­vealed a ve­hi­cle used in a dra­matic po­lice chase on Tues­day was al­legedly stolen from Kingsway City Shop­ping Cen­tre in Made­ley on Fri­day.

Four peo­ple have been charged over the chase that ended with a man al­legedly bran­dish­ing a loaded gun at po­lice af­ter a crash on the Mitchell Freeway.

About 11.25am, po­lice saw the stolen Toy­ota Kluger on Fer­gu­son Street in Mid­vale. Po­lice at­tempted to stop the car, but it is al­leged the driver ig­nored the re­quest and a pur­suit com­menced.

The Kluger trav­elled through var­i­ous north­ern sub­urbs for about 30 min­utes.

Po­lice aborted the chase when the ve­hi­cle al­legedly drove on the wrong side of Mitchell Freeway.

Just af­ter noon, the Toy­ota Kluger col­lided with a BMW sedan on the Mitchell Freeway in Stir­ling and was forced to stop. It is fur­ther al­leged the driver of the ve­hi­cle, who was armed with a firearm, ran from the ve­hi­cle.

He was ap­pre­hended by po­lice a short dis­tance away.

A 34-year-old man of no fixed ad­dress was charged with 13 of­fences, in­clud­ing pos­ses­sion of a firearm, two counts of ag­gra­vated armed rob­bery, two counts of ve­hi­cle theft and driv­ing with­out a li­cence.

Three women (25 and two aged 26) were each charged with ve­hi­cle theft.

Two of them, from Beechboro and El­len­brook, are due in Perth Mag­is­trates Court on Au­gust 6.

A Ben­nett Springs woman is due to ap­pear in court at a date not yet spec­i­fied.
