Whale car­cass shark warn­ing

A SHARK warn­ing was is­sued for the Min­darie coast­line af­ter the City of Wan­neroo re­moved a whale car­cass on Tues­day af­ter­noon. The Depart­ment of Pri­mary In­dus­tries is­sued the ‘shark ad­vice’ in a state­ment. “It is pos­si­ble residue from this car­cass to con­tinue to act as an at­trac­tant that could lead to sharks com­ing close in to shore along this stretch of coast,” the state­ment said. The City’s as­sets direc­tor Har­min­der Singh said it cost about $4000 to re­move the 4m car­cass from the rocks at Clay­tons Beach, in­clud­ing the hire rate of ma­chin­ery in­volved, tip­ping fees and clean­ing.
