Whale carcass shark warning
A SHARK warning was issued for the Mindarie coastline after the City of Wanneroo removed a whale carcass on Tuesday afternoon. The Department of Primary Industries issued the ‘shark advice’ in a statement. “It is possible residue from this carcass to continue to act as an attractant that could lead to sharks coming close in to shore along this stretch of coast,” the statement said. The City’s assets director Harminder Singh said it cost about $4000 to remove the 4m carcass from the rocks at Claytons Beach, including the hire rate of machinery involved, tipping fees and cleaning.
