*MUR­RAY Dairy is cel­e­brat­ing 20 years of oper­a­tions with its Busi­ness Fo­rum be­ing held on Thurs­day, Oc­to­ber 20 at Ba­rooga Golf Club.

The an­nual one day con­fer­ence will fo­cus on cel­e­brat­ing change and recog­nis­ing the need for con­tin­ual evo­lu­tion of the dairy in­dus­try.

The theme is ‘20 years back; 20 years for­ward’ and will con­sist of a mix of cel­e­brat­ing past achieve­ments while look­ing to the fu­ture with ex­cit­ing prospects of new de­vel­op­ments.

Ru­ral Bank and Ru­ral Fi­nance chief ex­ec­u­tive of­fi­cer and manag­ing direc­tor Alexan­dra Gart­mann will open pro­ceed­ings for the fo­rum, with Kevin Sheedy as a key guest speaker and a Cel­e­bra­tion Fo­rum Din­ner will take place in the evening.

The event is open to all dairy farm­ers in the re­gion.

*CAT­TLE Council of Aus­tralia is hold­ing is 2016 an­nual gen­eral meet­ing on Wed­nes­day, Novem­ber 9 at the In­ter­con­ti­nen­tal Ho­tel, North Ter­race, Ade­laide start­ing at 8am.

Two di­rect board po­si­tions will be elected – one each from both the north and south.

Di­rect mem­bers are en­ti­tled to express in­ter­est in sit­ting on one of the council’s policy con­sul­ta­tive sub­com­mit­tees which help form policy and guide the council’s pri­or­i­ties in sup­port­ing beef pro­duc­ers and in­dus­try.

*THE Na­tional Farm­ers’ Fed­er­a­tion 2016 Na­tional Congress will be held in Can­berra on Wed­nes­day, Oc­to­ber 26 and Thurs­day, Oc­to­ber 27.

Busi­ness lead­ers An­thony Pratt and An­drew ‘Twiggy’ For­rest will be key­note speak­ers among other high-cal­i­bre speak­ers that will line up over the course of the two days which will fo­cus on em­brac­ing the dig­i­tal age in agri­cul­ture to grow the ru­ral sec­tor.

Ses­sions in­cludes a panel dis­cus­sion on telecom­mu­ni­ca­tions in the bush and in­no­va­tion to man­age cli­mate change as well as po­lit­i­cal pan­els fea­tur­ing key Fed­eral Ministers of Parliament.

*AP­PLI­CA­TIONS for the Ru­ral In­dus­tries R&D Cor­po­ra­tion’s Ru­ral Women’s Award are now open.

All state and ter­ri­tory winners re­ceive a bur­sary of $10,000 to bring to life an idea ben­e­fit­ing ru­ral Aus­tralia. They also par­tic­i­pate in lead­er­ship de­vel­op­ment and gain ac­cess to a na­tion-wide net­work of award alumni.

The na­tional win­ner and run­ner up, se­lected from the state winners, re­ceive a fur­ther $10,000 and $5000 re­spec­tively.

*THE Aus­tralian Farm In­sti­tute is hold­ing its an­nual Agri­cul­ture Round­table Con­fer­ence on Thurs­day, Novem­ber 10 and Fri­day, Novem­ber 11 at the Pull­man Bris­bane King Ge­orge Square in Bris­bane, Queens­land.

The event com­mences with din­ner on the evening of Novem­ber 10 and con­tin­ues with break­fast and a full day’s dis­cus­sion on Novem­ber 11.

*THE Wan­garatta Lions Club is hold­ing its an­nual swap meet and col­lectibles mar­ket on Sun­day, Novem­ber 20.

*THE 7th In­ter­na­tional Ni­tro­gen Ini­tia­tive Con­fer­ence (INI) 2016 will be held on Sun­day, De­cem­ber 4 to Thurs­day, De­cem­ber 8 at the Mel­bourne Cricket Ground in Rich­mond.

The theme is ‘So­lu­tions to im­prove ni­tro­gen use ef­fi­ciency for the world’ with re­search in Aus­tralia and New Zealand sup­ported by uni­ver­si­ties, govern­ment and in­dus­try en­gaged with the global science com­mu­nity.
