All on offer at Mt Buller

North East Tourist News - - Mansfield & District -

BIKE riding, orchestra performances, fitness workouts, fun runs and food festivals – however an eclectic mix that may sound, it’s all on offer on Mt Buller over the summer holidays.

Warming up with the Victorian Gravity Enduro series on December 7 and 8, Mt Buller boasts an incredible amount of cycling events, races, workshops and trails over the next few months.

The Enduro series is a perfect start up race for those who would like to experience competition at a less frantic pace, with 70 per cent of the cycling done on the flowing descending trails, and just 30 per cent on the undulating tracks.

Following that is a weekend designed to hone in on your bike riding skills, fitness and enjoyment with a specialised MBT training skills camp on Mt Buller over the weekend of December 20 and 21, with a similar weekend taking place early in the New Year with the Gravity Oz Summer Camp.

Of course, not everyone is a mountain bike enthusiast, so for those who enjoy the strains of classical music as it filters through the snow gums, perhaps a visit to Mount Buller on January 24 for the Chamber Music Summer School Performance would be more appropriate.

Or, if running is more your style, there is the three day marathon Mt Buller Sky Run. Competitors tackle almost 100 km of incredible alpine scenery, taking in Craig’s Hut, the Delatite River, Howqua Gap and Mirimbah Park.

Starting on February 2, the Mt Buller Sky Run, formerly known as the Delatite Dash, is in its fourth year and growing in popularity with each competition.

A gourmet food and wine festival on Sunday, March 9, Picnic in the Park is a fantastic opportunity to sample local food and wine fare while relaxing on the banks of the Delatite River, enjoying a glass of wine while music and entertainment help you chill the day away.
