Tra­di­tional bak­ery in Yackan­dan­dah

IT is safe to say that Yackan­dan­dah Bak­ery is known by count­less peo­ple for its tra­di­tional Aus­tralian pies, sausage rolls, baked goods and cakes.

Ann Laing, who runs the bak­ery along­side her ex­pe­ri­enced baker hus­band Thomas, said the bak­ery had a long list of loyal cus­tomers.

One Mel­bourne cou­ple in par­tic­u­lar are diehard fans of the bak­ery, and head to the bak­ery sev­eral times a year just to in­dulge in a freshly made af­ter­noon tea.

Mrs Laing said the bak­ery does not deal in fast food, but rather “fresh food made fast”, and prides it­self on us­ing tra­di­tional, time hon­ored recipes for their de­li­cious food.

Items are made from scratch, with no pre­mixes or preser­va­tives, and are very pop­u­lar all year around.

Dur­ing the warmer months, there are a num­ber of tempt­ing bak­ery treats avail­able aside from the peren­nial fa­vorites of pies and sausage rolls.

Some of the lighter treats avail­able at Yackan­dan­dah Bak­ery in­clude quiche, salad, and lasagna; muesli, fresh berries and yo­ghurt for break­fast, ham/cheese/tomato crois­sants, toasties, wraps, foc­ca­cias and more.

The bak­ery is open seven days a week ex­cept Christ­mas day, from 7am-5pm.
