Feds back Ruther­glen Re­vi­tal­i­sa­tion Plan

INDIGO Shire mayor, James Tren­ery, has an­nounced that the $1.8 mil­lion Ruther­glen Main Street Re­vi­tal­i­sa­tion Project has re­ceived Fed­eral Govern­ment ap­proval.

Cr Tren­ery said the fund­ing of $900,000 granted through the Depart­ment of In­fra­struc­ture and Re­gional De­vel­op­ment’s Na­tional Stronger Re­gions Fund was a vote of con­fi­dence in the hard work of all who had com­mit­ted to the plan and worked through the de­tail over many years.

“The work that was done plan­ning, pro­mot­ing and lob­by­ing for this project for Indigo Shire and Ruther­glen has been ex­cel­lent,” he said

“But I re­ally want to ded­i­cate this suc­cess to the vi­sion and de­ter­mi­na­tion of the late Coun­cil­lor Don Cham­bers.”

Cr Tren­ery also said the sup­port of the mem­ber for Indi, Cathy McGowan, fed­eral elec­tion can­di­date So­phie Mirabella and Sen­a­tor Brid­get McKenzie was in­valu­able.

In ad­di­tion to the $900,000 of fed­eral fund­ing, the project will in­volve sig­nif­i­cant lo­cal con­tri­bu­tions:
