Feds back Rutherglen Revitalisation Plan
INDIGO Shire mayor, James Trenery, has announced that the $1.8 million Rutherglen Main Street Revitalisation Project has received Federal Government approval.
Cr Trenery said the funding of $900,000 granted through the Department of Infrastructure and Regional Development’s National Stronger Regions Fund was a vote of confidence in the hard work of all who had committed to the plan and worked through the detail over many years.
“The work that was done planning, promoting and lobbying for this project for Indigo Shire and Rutherglen has been excellent,” he said
“But I really want to dedicate this success to the vision and determination of the late Councillor Don Chambers.”
Cr Trenery also said the support of the member for Indi, Cathy McGowan, federal election candidate Sophie Mirabella and Senator Bridget McKenzie was invaluable.
In addition to the $900,000 of federal funding, the project will involve significant local contributions:
