Nature’s spring show case
CELEBRATING its 26th year, the Bright Spring Festival (October 15-November 1) showcases the Alpine Valley coming alive, with blooms and birds putting on nature’s showcase.
Bright and surrounding towns are a display of new life: cheeky bulbs in all colors, delicate roses, dogwood flowers everywhere and trees bursting into lush green foliage.
The Bright Spring Festival showcases what the Great Alpine Valleys is all about; great cafes and restaurants, access to three wine regions, accommodation to suit all budgets, gardens, adventure sports, walking tracks and bike trails, street and river markets, art exhibitions, theatre, expos and workshops and a natural beauty not found elsewhere in Victoria.
New gardens will be added to the open garden itinerary this year and visitors can experience the hospitality of enthusiasts from across the region.
Visit Mt Buffalo National Park for the amazing views and take in the spectacular wildflowers along the Bogong High Plains Road or relax at the Bright Body and Soul Expo, enjoy health, wellbeing and natural therapies in the most sensational and calming environment to soothe and restore the mind, body and soul (October 30).
Visit the Decorative Arts Exhibition and Sale at the Bright Art Gallery and Cultural Centre or if theatre is your thing, FLAK is on at the Bright Courthouse.
Why not join the Bright Creative Writing Workshop, a weekend with nationally and internationally awarded songwriters, children’s book illustrator, poets and published authors, including Carter and Carter, Sylvia Fraser and Ester de Boer (October 21-23), including a showcase concert starring Carter and Carter, and some workshop participants (October 22).
For all things handmade, home grown or home cooked enjoy the Bright Make it Bake it Grow It Market (October 15) and don’t forget Rotary’s Monster Street Market (October 31).
If recycling is your thing then look for treasures and pre-loved household items at the All Town Garage Sale Bonanza (October 29).
A fabulous feature of the Spring Festival is of course the Grand Fireworks Spectacular, this annual event is full of fun and entertainment for the whole family including a petting zoo, market and of course fireworks and is on Melbourne Cup weekend (October 29).
The Alpine Equine Extravaganza is a fully catered, no hassle, fun filled weekend (October 7-9).
