A riot of colour greeted finishers at this year’s Newman Family Fun Run.

More than 150 people crossed the line at the event, presented by Act Belong Commit at this year’s Fortescue Festival weekend in Newman.

Hosted at Goanna Oval, the fun run included four different course lengths: half-marathon, 7km, 4km and a 2.4km family course.

Shire of East Pilbara president Lynne Craigie said the shire never tired of hosting fitness and sporting events.

“We are acutely aware of how important health and wellbeing is for a community to grow and thrive,” she said.

“The people of Newman always impress me with their personal commitment to their fitness and health, for themselves and their families, so I offer my sincere thanks to everyone who either competed or volunteered to make sure this event was a success.

“In particular, I congratulate the winners of each event for a job well done.”

The fun run was sponsored by Healthway and BHP.
