Students leave mark with tiles

North West Telegraph - - News - Robert Dougherty

Hedland’s primary school students are moving on to high school, but they will not be forgotten, with painted and named tiles left behind to decorate their classrooms.

Eighteen St Cecilia’s Catholic Primary School students, graduating from Year 6, have designed commemorative tiles to decorate their old classrooms, starting a new school tradition in Port Hedland. “Students were bringing in the brand new tradition and leaving their mark after primary school,” St Cecilia’s teacher Rachel Mullins said.

“Designs reflect their personality, with many featuring gaming, dancing and quotes that ring true with them as they transition to high school.”

The vibrant tiles will be placed on the back wall of the Year 6 classroom early next year.
