Yard sale for dis­abil­ity aware­ness

South Hed­land res­i­dents are ex­pected to gather on Satur­day for the first of­fi­cial Com­mu­nity Yard Sale in sup­port of Dis­abil­ity Aware­ness Week.

The event is planned to raise do­na­tions to sup­port peo­ple with dis­abil­ity in the com­mu­nity and will take place at the JD Hardie Youth Cen­tre from 9am-1pm.

Or­gan­iser and life­style so­lu­tions ad­min­is­tra­tor Donna Lit­zow said about 20 stalls were planned to be set up as well as a gold coin dona­tion sausage siz­zle and raf­fle.

“It’s the first time it’s be­ing held, we’ve been work­ing on it for months for Dis­abil­ity Aware­ness Week — it’s about in­clu­sion in the com­mu­nity,” she said. “Come on down.

“We have face paint­ing, some un­be­liev­able raf­fle do­na­tions, hot food, cof­fee from JD Hardie, pop­corn and so much more.

“For all do­na­tions re­ceived you will be sup­port­ing peo­ple with dis­abil­i­ties in our com­mu­nity to be able to ac­cess var­i­ous ac­tiv­i­ties in and around the Pil­bara.”
