Northern Rivers Style

Spring’s hottest looks

It’s the season to refresh your wardrobe

- CASSIE ANDERSON

Spring is in the air and, after a fairly mild winter, it’s always exciting to see a change in season and the clothes that accompany it.

This spring is pretty with a punch – bright colours of candy pink and yellow to make you look twice, while graphic prints, stripes and florals are back with bite.

One of the most wearable trends this spring is stripes, and they’re a cinch when it comes to styling. You’ll be spoiled for choice in bright and bold colours from skinny to wide bands.

For a fresh take on the classic go-to blue and white, try an off-the-shoulder dress which easily transitions from mid-week to weekend – just swap your accessories.

You’ll find stripes in crisp, deconstructed shirts and soft flare sleeve blouses. Try them with high waisted denim jeans or a skirt. And, as the temperature heats up, turn to a flowy maxi dress with chic sandals.

The prettiest palette of the season comes in an array of pastel shades, sure to soften any wardrobe.

Building an outfit with colour is easy with the right foundations. Mix a soft pink denim jacket with white, boyfriend jeans and add a tee in pink’s best friend, grey. Punctuate sorbet-toned separates with a black and white printed piece.

Look for accessories and shoes in blue, mint and lemon tones or try a soft pink nail polish.

Spring brings a change in prints – flowers are blooming and eye-popping fruits are mixed with animal prints and colourful birds. It’s a happy reminder that summer is on the way.

If you dare go head to toe blooms, then opt for a subtly embroidered jacket or full printed skirt with a plain tee and denim jacket. Or try a floral cami over block colour pants with a pair of slides.

Still not ready? Add a fun shaped earring or necklace to your favourite outfit.

To keep you inspired during your workout why not give your activewear a spring clean? Workout classics are getting a chic update with luxe fabrics, mesh panels and delicate embellishments.

Prints are flowing through your workout too with tropical prints and flowers on crop tops and tights. Try colour-blocking in joyful bright pieces to uplift monochrome classics.

A lightweight jacket in a block colour will freshen up your trusty black tights or lift your heart rate with a new pair of sneakers in a fun colour.
