Ever wondered how Hollywood stars achieve that luminous skin? The secret, of course, is a great beauty therapist and the latest treatments.

We asked Sue Marcon, owner of Frangipani Beauty Spa, in Ballina, what professional treatments were most likely to help you achieve a gorgeous complexion.

Rejuvenate Oxygen Treatment

Apparently Madonna uses this to maintain her glow.

Sue says the treatment harnesses three elements to achieve instant and dramatic results.

Oxygen under light pressure aids delivery of age-defying ingredients to the skin at the same time as cooling and calming the skin. A rejuvenating serum containing lightweight Hyaluronic Acid and a powerful combination of vitamins and antioxidants is then applied to reduce the appearance of fine lines and wrinkles and improve overall radiance. Finally the therapist uses products that seal in and supplements skin nutrients.

$150 per treatment.

LED Light Therapy

While Omnilux and Lite Luxe are actual brand names and red or blue light refers to the type of treatment (red light, featured on Dr Oz and one of Hollywood’s top beauty secrets, has the ability to reach down into all the layers of the skin where it rejuvenates, stimulates collagen production, and prompts cellular repair), essentially these are all forms of LED light therapy.

LED is great for reducing the appearance of fine lines and wrinkles, improving uneven skin tone, reducing pore size, and brightening the skin.

Another drawcard is that there’s no downtime and it can be done in a lunch break.

$95 including light peel treatment.

Chemical peel

A chemical solution is applied to the skin that causes it to exfoliate and eventually peel off. The new, regenerated skin is usually smoother and less wrinkled than the old skin.

There are three basic types of chemical peels, from superficial to deep, depending on whether you are treating mild discolouration, age spots, or scars.

$80-$120 per treatment.

Radio Frequency Skin Tightening

This is sort of a lift, without a lift – no scars. Treatments are non-surgical, painless, and do not require any downtime.

Sue says this treatment tightens the skin using bi-polar radio wave frequencies which vibrate the water in the dermis causing friction and heat which causes the collagen to contract and become more compact leading to a dramatic tightening and lifting effect.

Hollywood stars who swear by RF treatments include Angelina Jolie, Jennifer Lawrence and the Kardashians.

$350-$950 per treatment.
