HOT LOOKS

you can wear this winter

-

CASSIE ANDERSON

I’ve just returned from an action-packed week at Mercedes Benz Fashion Week in Sydney where I witnessed some inspirational and some interesting looks. It was a great insight into not only what the designers are doing but to see all the street style trends for the season. I’ve narrowed it down to just four that you can easily incorporate into your own winter wardrobe.

Checks

One of my favourites, and it seemed the most popular trends of this fashion week, was the check print. It's no surprise considering it is versatile enough to work across jackets, pants, coats, dresses, and accessories. There were a lot of tailored check blazers which you can easily wear over a dress to the office or with your favourite skinny jeans and boots off duty. The check pant suit is a super sleek look that can be softened with a blouse or give it that street style cred with a white tee and sneakers.

Pretty in Pink

Who said pastels are just for spring and summer? 2018 has seen the return of pink on the runway and fashion week was no different. This fun colour can be worn a number of ways –whether it’s a statement coat, a white shirt layered with a soft pink knit or just a hint of pink on your bag. Pink pieces look sharp if the rest of your outfit is in neutral colours – think black, white and grey basics.

Faux Fur

Some of the coolest looks I saw on the streets were finished off with a statement faux fur coat and with the cold weather having set in it’s great to see keeping warm is functional as well as stylish. Coming in a range of colours like deep jewel tones and creamy caramel and beige they looked great over all white outfits or by adding warmth to a dress. Try an animal print accessory if you’re not ready to be covered in it.

Neutrals

As always, we can rely on our hardworking neutral staples to get us through winter. They give you the most wardrobe mileage as they can all be worn with the trends of the season and they look great on their own. A camel coat is always chic and you can never go wrong with a crisp white shirt.
