REFINE EDGE

-

Like most montages in Photoshop, our technique here begins with a cut-out to remove the face from its original background. Making precise cut-outs is often key to montage success, and the job has been made much easier in Elements 12 with the inclusion of the Refine Edge command (taken from Elements’ big brother Photoshop CS). Refine Edge enables you to improve selections by increasing the Radius along the edge in order to search for similar pixels. It’s great for selecting tricky objects like hair. Simply paint over tricky areas with the Refine Radius tool for (mostly) excellent results.
