WD’s popular MyBook has been given a style makeover with a sleek aluminium enclosure. It certainly looks the part when standing alongside a MacBook, plus the metal case will dissipate heat better than a conventional plastic design.
The Apple theme continues on the inside, with Time Machine backup compatibility and HFS+ drive formatting, though this can be changed to make the Studio compatible with Windows machines instead.
With a whopping four-terabyte capacity, you can store thousands of D810 RAW files and hours of Full HD video, however its transfer speeds trail the pack. Whether reading or writing both images and video, USB 3.0 performance is at least 25 per cent slower than on all but the sluggish Seagate drive.
