The cheapest drive in our round-up makes backing up a breeze with its sophisticated software that’ll automatically download your online social media snaps. There’s even an accompanying app to help you back up photos and videos from your mobile devices. Of course, you’ll be looking at storing photos from your Nikon, and four terabytes gives you lots of space.
Only the WD drive comes close to offering so much space for the money, but sadly the Seagate’s performance is also slow. Video transfer manages to be marginally quicker at 140 megabytes per second, but transfer a collection of image files and the Backup Plus can only muster half the pace of the front-runners. However, if you set the drive simply to back up behind the scenes its sluggishness becomes less of an issue.
