1 Get high at night-time

Look for compositions where you can include a backdrop that offers a range of lights, like a view down a busy street. A vantage point like this can be ideal, as you can include the lights from both traffic and surrounding buildings.

2 Slow shutter tricks

Why not try including moving traffic in the backdrop? With a slower shutter speed we can blur the movement of the background. You’ll need to hold the camera steady, or use a tripod, and ask your subject to stand perfectly still too.
