Chris says... If you want a sunrise shot, you need to be up well beforehand. Depending on your travel time to the location you have to arrive at least 30 minutes before the sun rises, as around 20 minutes before sunrise the clouds (if there are any) absorb the sunlight and turn a bright pink. Then you have increasing­ly saturated skies with oranges, yellows and purples pervading through the landscape. Oftentimes, you’ll have to scout your location at least the day before and take into account of any mountain ranges that will cast a shadow on your scene while the sun slowly but surely rises.
