I’ve bought a Canon Pro-100s printer on the strength of your recent review, but its colour rendition seems some way off from my calibrated monitor. Is this normal?

Jason says... If you own Canon-branded ink and photo papers, and assign the correct paper in the printer driver’s dialog box before printing, the Pro-100s should give very accurate results. However, when the printer driver’s Colour/Intensity setting is in its default ‘Auto’ setting, the printer driver will make ‘intelligent’ choices about how the image will look best in print. It usually works well, but the results on paper can look different to how they appear onscreen. This is what could be altering the colours on paper from what you see, on your monitor. For increased accuracy and consistency, set the Colour/Intensity to its Manual/Standard option.
