Phone lighting

You don’t necessarily need to use expensive LEDs or flashes for night-time portraits. The beauty is that we don’t need a high output of light because we need to balance the light we add to our subject with the existing light in our scene. Even a phone torch can be useful! It can add welcome illumination to the subject and also creates little catchlights in their eyes. The main problem is the colour of the light from a phone torch, which is usually quite cold compared to the surroundings, which often have a much warmer colour temperature.
