HOT SHOT #2

EXPOSURE 1/500 sec, f/10, ISO200 Lens Nikon 70-200mm f/2.8

Our Apprentice says… Chris took me along to a nearby spot where a copse of silver birch trees stood in front of the Black Cuillin mountains. Both summits, Bla Bheinn and Garbh Bheinn, were capped with snow, so I had to check my histogram to ensure I wasn’t clipping highlights in my shot. I was now shooting on a 70-200mm f/2.8 lens, which would decrease depth of field, so I set my aperture to f/10 to make sure the trees and mountains were both sharp. Even so, the mountains still fell out of focus slightly, but Chris reassured me that they were detailed enough that it didn’t matter.
