HOT SHOT #3
EXPOSURE 2.5 secs, f/22, ISO50 Lens Nikon 17-35mm f/2.8
Our Apprentice says… I headed to the coast with Chris 30 minutes before sunset. Unfortunately, there were no clouds in the sky, as had been the case all day. So that limited my compositional choices. I started shooting on the rocks you see in the foreground, but the tide quickly came in and, within 30 minutes, I had to back up onto the sand. The scene changed quickly and those big rocks became enveloped with water. Chris said that I should limit the amount of sky in my shot and instead concentrate on the foreground. So I framed the rocks in the foreground and included the mountains in the distance. I used f/22 to darken the frame enough to give me a shutter speed of 2.5 secs to blur the water.
