Teleconverters

NPhoto - - FEATURE -

A teleconverter sits between the camera and a telephoto lens and ‘boosts’ the focal length – by a factor of 1.4x or 2x. However, there’s a price to pay (there always is), as the maximum aperture decreases by one or two stops respectively, effectively turning a 70-200mm f/2.8 lens into a 98-280mm f/4 or 140-400mm f/5.6. Optical quality can suffer a little as well, due to the additional lens elements.
