Shooting through things

Paul says… Reminding Jodie of the foreground layer, I asked her to shoot through some foliage. By placing it close to the end of the telephoto lens, it appears as nothing more than abstract colours and blurred shapes. Not only does this dress the scene and help with framing decisions, it also evokes intimacy in a portrait. Jodie took several photos while moving between images to make sure she had a clear view of Bryony’s face through the leaves.
