Freecom Celeritas

£609/$792

www.freecom.com Boasting barely believable transfer speeds of 2800MB/S read and 2000MB/S write, the Celeritas (meaning ‘haste’ in Latin) may have a strange name, but it’s also one of the fastest portable storage devices currently on the market. Inside this slick-looking piece of kit is bleedingedge solid state hardware that makes this around four times quicker than a conventional portable SSD. Which is awesome news and means that you almost instantaneously transfer entire folders of high-res Raw files or high-def video. All of this speed comes in a seriously small form factor, as the Celeritas measures an easily pocketable 12.6x6x1.9cm, and it weighs a mere 186g. An aluminium exterior gives the device a quality feel while also having the more practical benefit of acting as a heatsink for all of the internal components.

First impressions_ No one wants to sit around waiting for photograph transfers when you could be out shooting more. Just be sure that you have a very modern computer equipped with a Thunderbolt 3 port, and that it contains an SSD fast enough to make the most of the Celeritas’s sky-high speed potential.
