overexpose, because dark shadows retain more detail than intense highlights. She also suggested that Lyndsey showed the family the occasional keeper, just so they knew the shoot was going well. This would reflect in their smiles and boost their confidence as models. Super Shot 3 was captured while Sam and Ben smiled at the camera, Teddy stood as patiently as ever and Camden played with the umbrella. Once again Lyndsey had captured a natural scene, free from forced smiles and instead jam-packed with impromptu charm.

PEEKABOO

Two-and-a-half hours into the shoot and Camden was beginning to get restless. “I don’t normally photograph children for more than an hour-and-a-half, so Camden’s done really well,” chuckled Ines. The courtyard was full of puddles, and Camden was having great fun splashing around. This was the perfect chance for him to let off steam, and for Lyndsey to practice capturing a few action shots. Ines suggested that she increased the shutter speed to freeze the action, and switched to AF-C to maintain focus on the now-jumping-and-running Camden.

He soon made his way towards a couple of birch trees just to the left of the studio. They still had plenty of golden leaves and, with a little sun breaking through the clouds, it was the ideal spot to take another portrait. Sam and Ben encouraged Camden to play beneath the trees, but following a few attempts to capture the family together, it was clear that the little boy was done sitting. He instead hid behind one of the trees and began playing peekaboo: “He does this,” Sam chuckled. “He’ll be doing that for ages now.”
