Long, graceful tentacles indicate the path the jellyfish has taken swimming close to the surface in the Philippine­s. This photo shows the strong contrast between the black water and white sky, with the view through the socalled Snell window, a phenomenon in which the underwater observer sees everything above the surface through a cone of light.
