Abstract motion
Movement and motion can be used as an effective way to ‘abstract’ a scene. Try different shutter speeds and see how you can blur a scene. Mounting a camera on a tripod and slowly panning it from left to right during the exposure will result in a streaky landscape that’s more about the tone and colour, but also can evoke a sense of place. Experiment with varying speeds, make notes and add them to your creative toolbox to call on when you need to.
