Filter specialist Nisi has announced its first ever lens, a 15mm f/4 ultra-wide optic available in Nikon Z mount.

Its optical formula features 12 elements in 10 groups, including one aspherical and two extra-low dispersion elements.

Nisi claims that the precise optical design retains high image definition across the frame, from the centre to corners, with minimal distortion for photographing interiors and architectural shots. The company is keen to state how good the optic is for shooting sunstars and starbursts, thanks to its 10 straight diaphragm blades.

It’s a fully manual lens, with a dedicated focus and aperture ring. It has a minimum focus distance of 0.2m, a maximum magnification of 0.13x, and a 112° angle of view on full-frame cameras (78° on the Nikon Z 50). It’s fairly compact at 76x81mm, and weighs in at 470g.

FIRST IMPRESSIONS

Nisi is already many people’s choice for the best ND filters and polarizers, so we’re intrigued to see the company turning its expertise in optics towards camera lenses.
