All part of the routine

-

For many years now I have had a lens-changing routine, going back to a visit to Egypt in what I thought would be dusty conditions and was worried dirt would get onto the sensor. Nowadays, with mirrorless bodies, this seems even more of a necessity.

I was wondering if anyone else has a similar routine? Here is mine: First, I ensure that the camera is secure on a neck strap. Next, I affix the front lens cap and find the lens I want to change to. Twist to unlock the rear cover but do not remove. Then, unlatch the lens on the camera and, while twisting off with one hand, grab the loosened rear cap with the other. Remove the lens and affix the rear cap and put it down safely. Pick up the new uncapped lens, align the white dots and twist until the click is heard/felt. Stow the old lens. Remove the front lens cap and put it in a convenient pocket. Clive Gordon

The perils of interchangeable lenses is the danger of dust getting into your camera’s innards. Thanks for sharing your tips to minimize this!
