Although the ‘E’ version of Nikon’s top 24-70mm standard zoom for fullframe DSLRS was launched in 2015, the older ‘G’ edition is still available to buy new. It’s around £300/$500 less expensive than the ‘E’ edition, which adds VR and an electromagnetically controlled diaphragm. On the plus side, the ‘G’ lens is a little smaller and lighter, and delivers excellent image quality. Aimed at the most demanding professional and enthusiast photographers, it has rock-solid build quality and a top-quality optical design that features three ED (Extra-low Dispersion) elements, three aspherical elements and Nano Crystal Coat for minimizing ghosting and flare.
