Trails and paths
Outside of the hides and main viewing areas, the paths and trails around nature reserves shouldn’t be overlooked when looking for potential subjects. The fact that they have regular use means wildlife can become fairly used to human activity, venturing closer into photographic range. One subject I’ve been very lucky to find in these spots are foxes in their breeding season. Habituated to people passing by, the fox cubs would happily venture out on the paths and tracks. Undeterred by my silent presence only a few metres away, it made for some truly magical encounters, which went unnoticed by many others who simply walked past!
