Colin says… Don’t just focus on people and buildings. Dogs live in the city too, and they can convey a lot about their owners. When Cassidy happened upon a local called Sonic and his dogs, I encouraged her to get right down to the animals’ level. She used a wide-angle focal length, which was a brilliant choice as the barrel distortion made the dogs appear much more imposing. This is particularly effective if you photograph a very small dog like a chihuahua. Making these miniature mutts intimidating can give your photographs a satirical quality.
