Expert Tip
The real skill in editing landscapes isn’t in knowing Photoshop inside out, but in understanding which tonal changes you want to make, and where to make them. Take our scene, for example; at first glance the sky looks washed out, the water could do with a boost in contrast and the distant mountains are overly hazy. By making these assessments we have a better idea of the kind of edits we need to make. These are best carried out on TIFF files rather than JPEGS as – like Raws – TIFFS hold greater colour info, which means they can withstand heavier colour editing.
