Rotational ICM
Go for a spin
We’ve tried moving the camera back and forth, and up and down, and this final technique involves rotating the camera as you shoot. It works best on subjects that are roughly circular, such as flower heads. You’ll need to rotate the camera around the dead centre of the frame, which isn’t easy handheld, and is best achieved with a lens that comes with a tripod mounting collar, such as our 70-200mm f/2.8. Line up the camera so that the subject is in the dead centre, then loosen the collar’s locking nut so that the lens can turn freely within it, and smoothly rotate the camera body as the exposure is taken.
